Biography

Currently based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and working as a composer, guitarist, arranger, orchestrator, and producer for the realm of visual media, Tomás Murmis is amongst the top ranks of the new generation of musicians to emerge from Latin America.

His music for film has been featured in some of the most renowned international festivals such as the European Independent Film Festival in Paris (ECU), the Newport Beach Film Festival in California, and the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema (BAFICI). His films have received awards in Berlin, Hamburg, London, Barcelona, San Diego, Washington DC, Sidney, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, including two “Best Original Music” awards at the 2014 Mimpi Film Fest in Rio de Janeiro and at the Sidney Surf Film Festival 2014.

Born into an artistic family from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Tomás has been immersed in music since his earliest years. He began his studies as a classical and jazz guitarist, and later incorporated composition, orchestration and arranging. Invited to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music on scholarship, he moved to the United States in 2008 and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2011 with a degree in Film Scoring.

During 2010-2011, Tomás worked as an intern at Paramount Pictures, working with top LA industry professionals. He is also the recipient of the Georges Delerue Memorial Award, granted by the Georges Delerue Foundation to “outstanding film composers of excellent character whose compositions reflect distinction and passion.”

After 7 years of work experience in the United States, Tomas relocated back to Buenos Aires in 2015 and is one of the most sought after local composers.
